Arrest of AIMIM Councillor in Nashik

Nashik, August 7 - Authorities have apprehended an All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) councillor from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar for allegedly providing assistance and shelter to a suspect involved in a sexual harassment and forced conversion case at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). An official confirmed the arrest on Friday, stating that Matin Patel was taken into custody on Thursday.


According to police reports, Patel was summoned for questioning but failed to appear. An officer mentioned that a specialized team from the Nashik city police's crime branch traveled to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to bring Patel back for interrogation. Following the arrest of Nida Khan, who has since been granted bail, authorities filed a case against Patel and the owner of the residence where Khan was staying.


Patel is expected to be presented in court later today. The Nashik police's Special Investigation Team (SIT) is currently probing nine cases related to alleged employee exploitation, attempts at forced conversion, religious offense, harassment, and mental torture at the TCS branch located here. This investigation was initiated after the matter came to light in March.
