AIADMK to Support Vijay-Led TVK in Tamil Nadu Government Formation
AIADMK's Strategic Move in Tamil Nadu Politics
According to sources within the AIADMK, the party has decided to extend external support to the TVK, led by Vijay, for forming a government in Tamil Nadu. Senior AIADMK leaders CV Shanmugam and SP Velumani are reported to have played crucial roles in this decision. This move comes in response to increasing internal dissent within the AIADMK, where a significant number of its 47 legislators have urged the party leadership to back the TVK.

Due to this controversy, a crucial meeting of AIADMK legislators has been postponed. Sources indicate that Edappadi Palaniswami has been warned to clarify his stance soon, or over 30 legislators may break away to support Vijay. Following the TVK's impressive performance in the assembly elections, where they secured 108 out of 234 seats, Vijay was unanimously elected as the leader of the legislative party on Tuesday.
Despite the party's strong showing, it falls short of the majority by 10 seats. In efforts to gather necessary support, Vijay has reached out to key political figures. He has written to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan, seeking their backing. Meanwhile, four newly elected legislators from the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) also met with Vijay at his residence in Chennai, hinting at potential post-election alliances.
