AIADMK Leader Criticizes DMK Government Over Drug Issues in Tamil Nadu

AIADMK's Allegations Against DMK Government

Edappadi K. Palaniswami, the leader of AIADMK, has accused the current DMK administration of transforming Tamil Nadu into a hub for drug trafficking. He raised concerns that the public is questioning whether the state government is genuinely protecting innocent citizens or providing cover for criminal elements. During protests against the deteriorating law and order situation under the DMK regime, Palaniswami emphasized that despite five years in power, the DMK has shown little regard for the welfare of the people, focusing instead on their own families. He pointed out that illegal liquor has been freely available since the DMK took office.

Palaniswami further criticized Chief Minister Stalin, labeling him a mere puppet in the political arena. He highlighted the alarming situation where children are sent to school, yet cannabis is being sold near educational institutions, adversely affecting their learning environment. Reports of students consuming alcohol in proximity to schools have also surfaced. He mentioned the unresolved murders of BSP leader K. Armstrong and Congress leader Jayakumar, noting that the culprits remain at large. Daily incidents of sexual harassment continue to be reported, raising serious concerns.

He recounted a tragic incident in Kallakurichi, where 68 individuals lost their lives due to illegal alcohol consumption. Despite demanding a CBI investigation, the DMK government has appealed to the Supreme Court. Palaniswami accused Stalin and the state government of siding with the accused. He also referenced a case of sexual harassment involving a woman at Anna University, which the DMK has failed to address. He assured that if AIADMK returns to power, they will conduct a thorough investigation to uncover the truth, reiterating that many political factions view Stalin as a puppet chief minister.

Since M.K. Stalin's ascension to the chief ministership in 2021, Tamil Nadu has reportedly become a stronghold for cannabis trafficking, illegal liquor sales, and drug cartels. Palaniswami claimed that the current government has fostered an environment where it is nearly impossible to find a location in the state without access to cannabis. Media reports indicate that college students, and even schoolchildren, are recklessly consuming drugs, including cannabis.
