Adani Group's Community Service at Puri Rath Yatra

The Adani Group is shifting its community service focus from the Maha Kumbh Mela to the Rath Yatra in Puri, Odisha. From June 26 to July 8, the group will provide nearly 4 million meals and drinks for free, set up food counters, and organize beach clean-ups. This initiative, in line with Chairman Gautam Adani's philosophy of 'Service is Worship,' aims to support pilgrims and local officials while reinforcing a commitment to community and cultural values. The collaboration with local organizations highlights the group's ongoing dedication to social service and development in India.

Adani Group's Commitment to Community Service

The Adani Group is actively engaged in community service, transitioning its efforts from the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj to the Rath Yatra in Puri, Odisha. This annual nine-day chariot festival at the Lord Jagannath Temple draws millions of devotees from across India and beyond.

In line with Chairman Gautam Adani's belief that 'Seva Hi Sadhana Hai' (Service is Worship), the group is launching a significant service initiative during the Rath Yatra, scheduled from June 26 to July 8, aimed at assisting pilgrims and local officials.

This year's initiatives include the distribution of nearly 4 million meals and beverages at no cost, the establishment of food counters offering nutritious meals for pilgrims and officials, and beverage stations throughout the city. Additionally, the Adani Group is collaborating with the Puri Beach Lifeguard Mahasangha to provide lifeguard services, organizing beach clean-up campaigns focused on reducing plastic waste, and supplying free T-shirts for volunteers, safety vests for municipal workers, and various jackets, raincoats, caps, and umbrellas for officials and attendees.

Collaboration and Broader Impact

This initiative is a collaborative effort involving the Adani Group, the Puri district administration, ISKCON, and local volunteer organizations. The Adani Foundation has been actively involved in various sectors in Odisha, including rural healthcare, educational infrastructure, and livelihood programs. The group's efforts during the Rath Yatra reflect a broader commitment to fostering spiritual continuity and community service in India's public sphere.

Earlier this year, during the extensive 45-day Maha Kumbh Mela, the Adani Group played a significant role in food distribution and welfare services for pilgrims, working alongside ISKCON and Gita Press. On January 21, Chairman Gautam Adani participated in the seva at the Kumbh, emphasizing that social service is a core value rather than a peripheral activity.

While the scale of operations in Puri may be smaller, the enthusiasm remains high, and the logistical challenges are considerable. Through its involvement in the Rath Yatra, the Adani Group is not only providing essential services but also promoting a vision of development rooted in Indian culture, community, and compassion.

Planning and Execution

Extensive planning is conducted with local partners months in advance, with volunteers sourced from both the Adani Group and local communities. The execution of these initiatives is often overseen by Adani coordinators who have established long-term relationships in the region.
