Adani Energy Solutions Achieves Milestone with 1 Crore Smart Meters
Adani Energy Solutions Reaches Major Smart Meter Milestone
Ahmedabad, Feb 5: In a remarkable achievement, Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) has become the first company in India, and possibly the world, to successfully install 1 crore smart electricity meters across various distribution companies. The firm anticipates delivering an additional 1 crore meters in the upcoming financial year (FY27).
As a leading provider of Advanced Metering Infrastructure Services in India, AESL is tasked with the installation of 2.5 crore smart meters across five states.
The company claims to have the highest installation rate in the industry, averaging 25,000 meters per day.
“Achieving an installed base of 1 crore smart meters reflects our commitment to excellence in execution and our strong collaboration with distribution utilities and consumers,” stated Kandarp Patel, CEO of Adani Energy Solutions Ltd.
“These smart meters serve as more than just devices; they empower consumers with real-time data on usage, enhance grid reliability, minimize losses, and facilitate efficient energy management. We are dedicated to playing a crucial role in India's digital energy transition,” he added.
This achievement comes well ahead of the company's target to reach 1 crore installations by March 31, 2026, highlighting AESL's dedication to advancing digital transformation in retail electricity distribution. This initiative provides essential data on energy consumption and supports grid modernization, aligning with the Government of India's Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).
AESL's smart meter network offers real-time insights for consumers, improves billing transparency, and bolsters utility operations.
The Adani Group subsidiary has attained the highest daily installation rate by adopting a comprehensive ecosystem approach.
It has partnered with sister companies such as Adani Esyasoft Smart Solutions for smart metering and IoT services, and AdaniConneX for local data hosting, while also collaborating with top-tier meter brands to ensure timely deliveries and maintain platform relevance throughout the contract duration.
The company embarked on its smart metering initiative in 2024 and has reached this significant milestone in roughly 24 months, marking the fastest installation rate in the nation.
Through the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), India aims to replace 25 crore traditional meters with advanced smart meters to modernize the power distribution framework.
