Vijay's Determination Shines Through

Erode: Following a denial from district police regarding permission due to concerns over space and security, the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor and politician Vijay, has submitted a new application to hold a public rally in Erode on December 16. This move underscores the party's commitment to proceed with this significant campaign event despite the initial setback.

Vijay is ramping up his political efforts across Tamil Nadu in anticipation of the 2026 Assembly elections. A major public gathering was initially scheduled in Erode district, prompting TVK’s State Executive Committee Chief Coordinator, Sengottaiyan, to meet with Erode Collector Kandhasamy on Monday morning to formally request permission for the rally.

Additionally, a representation was made to the Erode District Superintendent of Police. The rally was originally planned for a seven-acre private plot near Pavalathampalayam along the Erode–Perundurai Road, but police, led by Superintendent Sujatha, denied permission after inspecting the site.

Authorities cited insufficient space, difficulties in managing crowds, and potential safety hazards as reasons for the rejection.

In light of this, Sengottaiyan quickly consulted with TVK’s district executives to find an alternative location, which has now been identified near Perundurai. A new application for police approval for this revised site was submitted later that day.

Sengottaiyan assured, "We will conduct the rally strictly in accordance with government regulations and security protocols once we receive the necessary permissions."

When questioned about the possibility of senior former ministers from other parties joining TVK at the Erode rally, Sengottaiyan responded cautiously, stating, "Wait until the 16th."

Meanwhile, Vijay's campaign continues unabated. Despite the uncertainty surrounding the Erode event, he is scheduled to address a public meeting in Puducherry on Tuesday.

Party officials emphasized that this demonstrates Vijay's determination to maintain campaign momentum throughout Tamil Nadu and surrounding areas.

TVK sources also indicated that additional rallies and organizational meetings are being planned across western Tamil Nadu in the upcoming weeks as the party prepares for its first significant electoral challenge in 2026.
