In a significant demonstration as part of its statewide initiative, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Nurpur unit organized a protest at the main entrance of Arya Degree College, effectively blocking access to highlight pressing student issues. The ABVP insisted that the college administration must address these concerns with urgency.
The protest attracted the attention of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Nurpur, who engaged in discussions with ABVP members regarding various matters affecting student welfare. The organization articulated its primary demands to the college authorities.
Key Demands Presented by ABVP:
- Reversal of Fee Increase – The recent hike in college fees by 25–30% should be revoked to alleviate the financial strain on underprivileged students.
- Restoration of Student Union Elections – It is crucial to uphold the democratic rights of students by reinstating elections for student unions.
- Dedicated Hostel Facilities – The college hostel should be exclusively available for enrolled students rather than allocated to others.
- Completion of New College Infrastructure – The construction of the new college building should be prioritized to enhance academic resources.
The ABVP underscored that these demands reflect the collective interests of the student body rather than individual grievances. The organization firmly stated that it will not accept any compromises regarding student rights and amenities.
The Nurpur unit called on the administration to act swiftly and positively on these matters, reaffirming its dedication to advocating for student welfare and continuing the fight for their rights.
