This victory not only crowned India as the first team to win the T20 World Cup on home soil but also made them the first to secure back-to-back titles and the first to claim three T20 World Cup championships.

Sharma made a spectacular comeback in the final, achieving the fastest half-century in T20 World Cup knockout history. Prior to this match, he had faced challenges, including three consecutive ducks and a bout of food poisoning, which hindered his performance throughout the tournament.


In the final, he showcased his skills against the New Zealand bowlers, hitting Jacob Duffy for two boundaries and then taking on Lockie Ferguson with a four and a six in the fourth over.


He continued his aggressive play, scoring six fours and a six during the powerplay, reaching his half-century in just 18 balls, concluding his innings with a total of 52 runs off 21 balls at an impressive strike rate of 247.62.
