AAP's Sanjay Singh Demands Disqualification of MPs Joining BJP

In a significant political move, AAP leader Sanjay Singh has announced plans to request the disqualification of seven MPs who recently left the party to join the BJP. Singh argues that their actions violate the anti-defection law, which does not recognize any factional splits within the Rajya Sabha or Lok Sabha. This development comes after Raghav Chadha and Sandeep Pathak, two prominent AAP MPs, confirmed their shift to the BJP, raising questions about party loyalty and constitutional adherence. Singh's formal request will be directed to the Vice President of India and the Rajya Sabha chairman, aiming to uphold the integrity of the legislative process.

Sanjay Singh's Bold Move Against Party Defectors

New Delhi: On Saturday, AAP's Sanjay Singh announced plans to formally request the Rajya Sabha chairman to disqualify seven party MPs who recently resigned from AAP.

Singh emphasized that the anti-defection law prohibits any factional splits within the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, asserting that such divisions lack legal standing, regardless of a two-thirds majority.

He pointed out that neither the anti-defection law nor the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution acknowledges any form of faction or breakaway group in these legislative bodies.

The AAP leader condemned the actions of the seven MPs who have decided to join the BJP, labeling their move as unconstitutional and illegal.

Singh confirmed that he would be reaching out to the Vice President of India and the Rajya Sabha chairman to push for the disqualification of these MPs.

Earlier, AAP Rajya Sabha members Raghav Chadha and Sandeep Pathak revealed that they, along with five other MPs, would be merging with the BJP.

During a press briefing, Chadha stated that seven out of AAP's ten Rajya Sabha MPs are set to join the BJP.
