AAP Protests Against Delhi Government Over Controversial Video
AAP Legislators Stage Protest Outside Delhi Assembly
On Friday, members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) gathered outside the Delhi Assembly to protest against the state government. AAP legislator Sanjeev Jha accused the BJP-led government of diverting attention from critical issues in Delhi, such as law and order, contaminated water, pollution, and the Yamuna River, by circulating a "fake" video linked to opposition leader Atishi. He called for action against Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra and others who allegedly shared the video with incorrect transcriptions.
Concerns Over Law and Order in Delhi
Speaking to the media, Jha highlighted various pressing issues in Delhi, including law enforcement, polluted water, and environmental concerns. He claimed that the BJP created a misleading video to avoid addressing these real problems, dragging in the name of Guru Sahib to shift the focus. Jha insisted that Mishra should face suspension for sharing the misleading video.
Tensions Rise in Delhi Assembly
The day before, the Delhi Assembly witnessed chaos as BJP legislators protested against AAP over comments made by opposition leader Atishi regarding a Sikh guru. In response, AAP members entered the assembly carrying posters and chanting slogans, demanding Mishra's resignation. The winter session of the Delhi Assembly commenced on January 5 and is scheduled to continue until January 8.
Letter to Assembly Speaker
AAP legislator and deputy opposition leader Mukesh Ahlawat wrote to Speaker Vijender Gupta regarding the allegations against Atishi and the dissemination of the related video. In his letter, Ahlawat pointed out that the video tweeted by Kapil Mishra is not part of the official assembly records, raising questions about how he obtained the footage. He noted that the footage clearly shows Atishi asking, "So please discuss. Why are you running away since morning? You are saying, 'Respect the dogs, respect the dogs.' Honorable Speaker, please allow a discussion on this matter."
