Concerns Over Delhi's Security Situation

Atishi, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the opposition leader in the Delhi Assembly, has expressed her worries regarding the declining law and order in the capital by writing to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. In a post on X, she stated, "I have requested a meeting with the honorable Home Minister to discuss the rapidly deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi. The continuous incidents of murder, robbery, gang violence, and shootings are instilling fear among citizens. Delhi needs security, not silence!"

Rising Crime Rates Raise Alarms

In her letter, Atishi highlighted the recent bomb blast near the Red Fort, questioning the city's security measures. She noted, "The increasing crime rate in Delhi has created an atmosphere of fear among the populace. An AAP worker was murdered near Chief Minister Rekha Gupta's residence, and a daylight murder occurred outside a gym in Greater Kailash. The bomb blast near the Red Fort has raised serious concerns about our security framework. The state of law and order in Delhi is a matter of national reputation and internal security... Please grant me time to discuss the deteriorating law and order situation with you."

Details of the Bomb Blast Incident

Previously, on November 10, 2025, a car explosion near the historic Red Fort resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has alleged that Amir Rashid Ali assisted in the purchase of the Hyundai i20 car used in the attack, which was later converted into a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED). Another suspect, Jasir Bilal Wani, also known as Danish, is accused of providing technical expertise to the module, including modifying drones and attempting to create rockets. The agency reported that Jasir had collaborated with Umar-un-Nabi to plan the attack.

Forensic Evidence and Ongoing Investigations

Forensic investigations have confirmed that Umar-un-Nabi, a resident of Pulwama and an assistant professor in the General Medicine department at Al-Falah University in Faridabad, was the driver of the IED-laden vehicle. Investigators believe that the attack was meticulously planned and coordinated across multiple locations. Following the explosion, the Ministry of Home Affairs promptly handed the case over to the NIA, which is working alongside various state police forces to identify, monitor, and apprehend everyone involved in the terrorist conspiracy.
