Criticism of Congress by AAP's Finance Minister

The leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Punjab's Finance Minister, Harpal Singh Cheema, expressed his discontent with the Congress party on Tuesday, accusing it of lacking discipline amidst internal conflicts within its Punjab unit. Speaking to a news outlet, Cheema stated that there is no order within Congress, as everyone seems to aspire to become the Chief Minister. He alleged that Congress leaders prioritize their ambitions for the chief ministerial position over strengthening the party's organization.

Cheema expressed confidence in AAP's performance in the upcoming state elections, predicting a significant victory for the party in Punjab in 2027. Meanwhile, Punjab Congress President Amarinder Raja Warring attempted to dismiss claims of discord within the party. He acknowledged that some leaders were unable to attend the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee meeting due to prior commitments.

After the meeting, Warring addressed reporters, stating that while some district presidents were absent, they were on the Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage, and he encouraged inquiries about their whereabouts. He noted that at least one or two individuals might have missed the meeting, but he could not provide any sensational news as there was nothing significant to report. Warring further mentioned that all leaders would present a united front and address the media together, assuring that all Punjab Congress leaders would be present on the same platform.

This statement from Warring came after Congress MP and former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi decided not to attend the meeting and planned to travel to Delhi with a group of loyalists to voice objections against the leaders chosen by the Congress high command for the state unit.
