AAP Criticizes BJP for Building Luxurious Residence for Delhi CM

The Aam Aadmi Party has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of hypocrisy for constructing a luxurious residence for Delhi's Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta. Dubbed 'Maya Mahal', the new residence combines two large government bungalows, raising questions about the BJP's claims of simplicity. AAP leaders have pointed out that while the BJP criticizes other leaders for their lifestyles, they are now overseeing the creation of a lavish abode. The controversy has sparked discussions about governance and expenditure, especially in light of previous criticisms aimed at former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. As the situation unfolds, the lack of response from the BJP and the Delhi government adds to the intrigue surrounding this issue.

AAP's Accusations Against BJP

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) launched a critique against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday, highlighting the irony of a party that professes simplicity while questioning the lifestyles of other leaders. AAP leader Manish Sisodia took to social media to reveal that a lavish residence, dubbed "Maya Mahal," is being constructed for Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, combining two large government bungalows with 15 rooms each.

Details of the Allegations

According to AAP MLA Anil Jha from Kiraari, the BJP has consistently claimed to live modestly while criticizing the lifestyles of leaders from other parties. He stated that credible information suggests that the Chief Minister is set to receive two adjacent bungalows at 1/8 and 2/8 Raj Niwas Marg, each featuring 15 rooms. Renovation orders have reportedly already been issued.

Lack of Response from Authorities

As of now, there has been no immediate response from either the Delhi government or the BJP regarding these allegations. Jha also mentioned that the preparations include installing 14 high-capacity generators of 62 kVA to ensure uninterrupted power supply. He remarked, “The governance of Delhi will now operate from here - the ‘Maya Mahal.’ The same BJP leaders who previously criticized Arvind Kejriwal for expenses are now silent.” Previously, the BJP had referred to the residence of former Chief Minister Kejriwal at 6 Flagstaff Road as the “Sheesh Mahal.”
