AAP Accuses Congress of Collusion with BJP Amid Protests
Allegations of Political Collusion
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the Congress party of collaborating with the BJP in response to Rahul Gandhi's protests. In a statement on Wednesday, Congress MP Jothimani urged AAP to cease its petty politics and focus on uniting all opposition parties. She emphasized the need for solidarity among opposition groups, stating, "We must fight together as a united front." This remark followed accusations from former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, who criticized Congress for its alleged collusion with the BJP regarding ongoing student protests against the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak.
Atishi claimed that while protesters at Jantar Mantar were ignored for a month, the central government initiated discussions immediately after Congress's demonstration near the Prime Minister's residence.
Criticism of Government's Response
In a post on X, former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi expressed her astonishment, stating, "It's remarkable! CJP and Sonam Wangchuk have been protesting at Jantar Mantar for a month, yet the Modi government refuses to engage with them. However, after Rahul Gandhi's protest outside the PM's residence, the government starts talks within an hour. What a collusion!" Additionally, Jothimani launched a fierce attack on the BJP-led central government regarding the alleged leak of exam papers in national competitive exams, accusing the ruling party of ruining the country's systems and jeopardizing students' futures.
She questioned the accountability of the education minister, stating, "What have students, the Congress party, and the INDIA alliance been demanding since day one? The situation in the country is extraordinary. Every exam paper has been leaked... The BJP has dismantled every system. They no longer care about our children's future. There is complete chaos everywhere... A major scam has already occurred; under whose supervision did this happen? Under the education minister's watch. So, is there no accountability?"
Nationwide Protests by Congress Workers
On Wednesday, Congress workers staged protests across several states. They condemned the police action during the protests held on July 20 in the national capital, where opposition leader Rahul Gandhi and other leaders were detained.
