AAP Announces First Batch of Candidates for Assam Elections
Guwahati, Mar 15: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has officially confirmed its participation in the upcoming Assam Assembly elections by releasing its inaugural list of candidates for 2026, featuring 14 nominees from various constituencies across the state.
The party's announcement, made public through a notification signed by Rajesh Sharma, the State Prabhari for Assam, highlights candidates from regions including Upper Assam, Central Assam, and parts of Lower Assam.
Among the candidates, Achyut Das will represent the Naoboicha constituency, while Pulin Gogoi is set to contest from Dergaon. Jarboam Kutum has been nominated for Gohpur, and Anurupa Dekaraja will run from Central Guwahati.
Additionally, Ashis Hazarika has been selected for Khumtai, and Tapan Gogoi will contest from Sibsagar. Tikendra Thapa is the candidate for Rongangadi.
In Lower Assam, Zahidu Islam Khan will contest from Chenga, and Ranjeet Boro has been nominated for Naduar.
Pallav Saikia will represent the Titabar constituency, while Jinna Amir Hussain has been nominated for East Goalpara. Barun Bikas Das will contest from Raha, and Renuka Timungpi has been named for the Bokajan hill district seat. Ananta Gogoi will run from Biswanath constituency.
This initial list marks the beginning of AAP's electoral strategy in Assam as they gear up for the 2026 Assembly elections.
Party officials indicated that the candidates were chosen following discussions with state leaders and local units.
