Shocking Allegations from a Retired Army Officer

A startling incident has emerged from Jaisalmer district in Rajasthan, where a 92-year-old retired Indian Army officer, Captain Chunnilal, claims that his land was mortgaged, transferred, and sold without his consent. Captain Chunnilal is a decorated veteran who bravely served in the wars against China in 1962 and Pakistan in 1965 and 1971.

Resettlement in Rajasthan After Displacement

In recounting his story, Captain Chunnilal explained that after retiring from the army, he relocated to Bassi. He mentioned that prior to his retirement, he also contributed during the Kargil War, fighting not just for himself but for the entire nation.

He shared, "Our family owned fertile agricultural land near Himachal Pradesh. However, the government acquired our land for the Pong Dam project, and the compensation provided was insufficient. We were promised land in Rajasthan for displaced families, which led to my allocation of land in Mohangarh. Upon my arrival, I found nothing but sand. After years of hard work, we transformed that barren land into fertile ground."

Allegations of Forgery and Identity Theft

Captain Chunnilal accused certain individuals of preparing fake documents and using a lookalike to deceitfully sell his land after years of toil. Expressing his distress, he stated that he cannot comprehend how such a situation could occur. Given his advanced age, he has appealed to the government to transfer his case to Himachal Pradesh, allowing him easier access to the court for justice.

Police Investigation Underway

In response to this serious allegation, Revatdan, the Additional Superintendent of Police in Jaisalmer, clarified the situation and provided details about the police action. He stated, "A former soldier approached us, claiming that his land had been registered under someone else's name using forged identification. A case has been filed at the Kotwali police station. We will conduct a thorough investigation, and any necessary legal actions will follow once the inquiry is complete."
