500 Khejri Trees Planted in Memory of Late Sajana Devi to Promote Environmental Awareness
A Tribute to Environmental Conservation

On Thursday, a significant event took place at the Municipal Forest, Nature Park, Dabla Road, Churu, where 500 Khejri saplings were planted in memory of the late Sajana Devi, mother of Head Constable Dr. Bhagirath Meghwal from the Churu Police Headquarters. This initiative, organized through the collaborative efforts of the Municipal Forest team and the youth of Ward No. 46, serves as a powerful example of collective awareness and social responsibility towards environmental conservation, earning widespread appreciation for the police personnel involved.
During the event, attendees and environmental enthusiasts paid heartfelt tributes to the late Sajana Devi, emphasizing that planting trees is one of the best ways to honor the memory of a loved one. They noted that the Khejri tree is not just a plant but also the state tree of Rajasthan, symbolizing culture, environment, local life, and desert civilization. This tree plays a crucial role in soil conservation, providing fodder for animals, and maintaining ecological balance.
Speakers expressed concern over the declining number of Khejri trees, stating that public participation is essential for their conservation and promotion. They recalled the historic sacrifice at Khejri village in 1730, highlighting the Khejri tree as a symbol of sacrifice, dedication, and nature conservation. They stressed that preserving Khejri is vital for ensuring a safe and balanced environment for future generations.
The youth from Ward No. 46 played a pivotal role in the program. They not only actively participated in the planting but also committed to the care, irrigation, and regular maintenance of the saplings. Their awareness and dedication reflect their social responsibility towards environmental conservation.
Notable attendees included DSB in-charge Motaram, Anti-Human Trafficking Unit in-charge Ramniwas Sharma, Naib Tehsildar Chunnilal Chauhan, former councilor Kalavati Lugaria, Vice Principal Mohan Arjun, teacher Shishram Mahich, and members of the Municipal Forest team, along with over 50 environmental enthusiasts.
At the conclusion of the event, all present pledged to protect and promote the Khejri saplings while respectfully honoring the late Sajana Devi. This tree-planting initiative, held in maternal memory, emerged as a remarkable blend of tribute, environmental conservation, and community participation, delivering a meaningful message about nature preservation to society.
