New Delhi, May 20: A tragic incident occurred in the Welcome police station area of northeast Delhi, where a 22-year-old man was fatally shot during the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, as reported by officials.
The shooting took place near Keshav Chowk, where the victim, identified as Amanullah Qureshi from Gurdwara Mohalla in Maujpur, was riding his scooter when he was ambushed by unidentified gunmen who opened fire at close range.
Eyewitnesses and police reports indicate that Amanullah was heading towards Shahdara late at night when the assailants, who appeared to be lying in wait, targeted him.
Multiple shots were fired, severely injuring him. He fell to the ground shortly after the attack, causing alarm among local residents who rushed to the scene.
Residents quickly alerted the police, who arrived promptly and transported the injured man to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital. Unfortunately, medical staff pronounced him dead upon arrival, according to officials.
This murder has instilled fear within the local community, prompting a significant police presence in the area following the incident.
Initial investigations suggest that the motive behind the murder may relate to personal animosity or an ongoing dispute involving the victim and the attackers. However, authorities are still determining the precise motive and exploring all potential leads.

An FIR has been filed at the Welcome Police Station under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 27 of the Arms Act.
