Consequently, voting scheduled for June 18 in these states was canceled, while contests in other regions were limited to just a few seats.

Notable Candidates Returning to the Upper House

Among the prominent figures returning to the Rajya Sabha is Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress President from Karnataka. Several central ministers, senior party strategists, and regional leaders have also secured new terms. After the returning officer canceled Meenakshi Natarajan's nomination, the BJP successfully acquired all three available Rajya Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh without any opposition.
