New Delhi, July 30: A 21-year-old woman, who sustained injuries during the police response to the protest at Jantar Mantar on July 20, has made a satisfactory recovery and was released from Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital on Thursday.
The hospital confirmed that her discharge was based on her stable condition and overall improvement.
Initially brought to RML Hospital in an unconscious state due to asphyxia caused by a stampede during the Parliament march, her condition required intensive care and ventilatory support for several days.
Fortunately, she showed gradual improvement, regaining full consciousness and the ability to move independently nearly ten days post-admission.
In a recent medical update, RML Hospital noted that the patient had made a "satisfactory recovery following comprehensive critical care management" after receiving treatment and rehabilitation.
Upon her arrival, she was resuscitated in the Emergency Department and subsequently moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where she was placed on ventilatory support. After showing sustained clinical improvement, she was weaned off the ventilator and transferred to the Nursing Home ward for further recovery after a week in the ICU.
As of Thursday, marking her 10th day in the hospital, she was reported to be stable, "fully conscious, alert, coherent, and hemodynamically stable," and had resumed a normal diet.
RML Hospital also indicated that she was able to walk without assistance and had regained the capacity to perform her daily activities independently, reflecting significant progress from her initial condition.
Given her satisfactory clinical recovery and stable state, she was discharged with appropriate medical advice and follow-up instructions.
The woman was among the participants in the July 20 protest at Jantar Mantar, organized by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) under the 'Sansad Chalo' banner.
This demonstration aimed to hold the government accountable for NEET paper leaks and other examination-related issues, as well as to address student concerns.
However, the protest escalated into violence when some individuals began throwing stones, prompting security forces to use mild force to disperse the crowd. The clashes resulted in injuries to both protesters and police personnel.
