A special court in Muzaffarnagar has sentenced a man to ten years in prison for attempting to rape a minor, a case that dates back eight years. This information was shared by a lawyer on Sunday.


According to government advocate Pradeep Baliyan, Judge Manjula Bhalotia of the special POCSO court found Jitendra Kumar guilty of attempting to rape a 15-year-old Dalit girl on Saturday. In addition to the prison sentence, he was also fined ₹40,000.


Baliyan provided details about the incident, stating that on September 23, 2017, Jitendra Kumar entered the home of the victim in a neighborhood of the New Mandi police station area and attempted to assault her.


The crime occurred while the victim's parents were away from home. Following the incident, the victim's uncle filed a complaint with the police, who conducted an investigation and subsequently submitted a charge sheet to the court. The court completed the hearing on Saturday and delivered its verdict.
