Yogesh Dahiya's Ambitious Journey in Pro Kabaddi

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], July 17: Kabaddi player Yogesh Dahiya has set his sights on helping the Bengaluru Bulls clinch the title in the upcoming Pro Kabaddi League Season 12, following his record acquisition for Rs 1.125 crore.

Three franchises, including Bengaluru Bulls, Patna Pirates, and Bengal Warriorz, competed fiercely to secure Dahiya's talents, ultimately leading him to join the Bengaluru Bulls.

Reflecting on the auction, the 23-year-old defender shared, "I was glued to the live auction on TV, watching the bids from Bengaluru Bulls, Patna Pirates, and Bengal Warriorz unfold before my eyes."

His signing marked him as the most expensive Indian defender in the history of the Panchkula Player Auction, a significant milestone for the young athlete.

"I felt a mix of nervousness and excitement during the auction. It was a thrilling experience to see which franchise would choose me," he recalled.

When the final bid was confirmed in favor of the Bulls, the celebration extended beyond the franchise's headquarters, as his family back in his village erupted in joy, proud of his remarkable achievement.

"My parents were overjoyed, feeling immense pride in my accomplishment and the recognition I received," Dahiya expressed.

His journey to professional kabaddi began unexpectedly in 2018, sparked by watching seniors play in his village.

"I was inspired to play kabaddi, which allowed me to escape schoolwork while enjoying the sport," he admitted candidly.

Initially, he faced skepticism from his family, but as his skills improved, their support grew. "On days I lacked motivation, they encouraged me to practice, reminding me of the importance of commitment," he added.

Dahiya's transformation from doubt to support reflects his growth as a player, largely influenced by his uncle's son, who recognized his potential and guided him.

"He introduced me to the game and provided constant support and advice, which was crucial for my development," he noted.

Unlike many players who rely on flashy moves, Dahiya has earned his reputation as a "silent killer," known for his precise defensive skills.

His philosophy is straightforward yet impactful: "Patience is key. Avoid aggression and mistakes, tackle at the right moments, and prioritize team play over individual glory."

With the weight of a record contract, Dahiya remains composed and focused. "Being part of Bengaluru Bulls feels great, and I am committed to representing them this season," he stated confidently.

As he looks ahead, Dahiya's goal is clear: "I aim to give my best for the team, and I hope we can lift the cup this year—that's my ultimate objective."
