Vaani Kapoor Embraces Female Empowerment in Upcoming Thriller Series 'Mandala Murders'
Vaani Kapoor Takes the Lead in 'Mandala Murders'
Vaani Kapoor expresses her excitement about her new OTT series, 'Mandala Murders', highlighting the significance of women taking charge in the thriller genre.
This mythological crime thriller, produced by YRF Entertainment, is helmed by Gopi Puthran, known for his work on 'Mardaani 2', alongside Manan Rawat.
In a recent interview, Kapoor shared, “I am drawn to emotional and complex human narratives. In this series, I portray a police officer, and it’s refreshing to see women represented in the thriller space. Traditionally, female characters in this genre are depicted as tough and stoic, but I appreciate how they’ve incorporated her vulnerabilities, making her more relatable.”
She continued, “I find that balance intriguing, which made this role particularly appealing to me.” Kapoor, who has previously captivated audiences in films like 'Shudh Desi Romance', 'War', 'Bell Bottom', 'Khel Khel Mein', and 'Raid 2', is eager to showcase her versatility.
'Mandala Murders' is set in the enigmatic town of Charandaspur, where Kapoor plays Rhea Thomas, a determined investigative officer who uncovers a disturbing conspiracy involving ritualistic murders linked to an ancient secret society.
Having long admired action films led by women, such as 'Naked Weapon', 'Charlie's Angels', and 'Kill Bill', Kapoor acknowledges the challenges of performing action sequences.
“There’s a significant amount of effort that goes into it. While this series doesn’t feature high-octane action, it aligns more closely with the story's realism, and we’ve integrated action elements accordingly. I have immense respect for everyone who performs action on screen, including the male actors,” she remarked.
