Updated Aarti Timings at Khatu Shyam Ji Temple for Devotees
Important Update for Khatu Shyam Ji Temple Visitors
An essential announcement has been made for those planning to visit the renowned Khatu Shyam Ji Temple. If you intend to attend the *Aarti* (ritual worship) ceremonies to seek *darshan* (sacred sight) of Baba Shyam, it is crucial to check the updated timings, as adjustments have been made to the schedules of two of the temple's main *Aartis*. Baba Shyam's *Aarti* occurs five times daily, with two of these sessions featuring a change in His captivating adornment (*Shringar*), allowing devotees to see Him in a new light.
As per the temple's traditions, the timings for Baba Shyam's *Aarti* are subject to periodic changes. With the shift from *Chaitra Shukla Paksha* to *Vaishakh Krishna Paksha*, the Shri Shyam Mandir Committee has revised the schedules for two of the primary *Aartis*. An official notification has been released by the temple administration regarding these updates. The new timings for the *Shringar Aarti* and the *Sandhya Aarti* (Evening Aarti) have been officially announced.
From now on, the morning *Shringar Aarti* will commence at 7:15 AM, while the *Sandhya Aarti* will be held at 7:15 PM. Mohan Das Maharaj, the former President of the Shyam Mandir Committee, noted that due to the seasonal transition from *Chaitra Krishna Paksha* to *Chaitra Shukla Paksha*, the first *Mangala Aarti* is now conducted at 4:30 AM, compared to 5:30 AM during winter. This *Aarti* is the first ritual performed when the temple opens, followed by the *Shringar Aarti*, which has now been rescheduled.
According to the revised timetable, the *Shringar Aarti* will now take place at 7:10 AM, during which Baba receives His special adornment. The third ceremony, the *Bhog Aarti*, will continue at its usual time of 12:30 PM, where special food offerings (*Bhog*) are made to Baba Shyam. This timing remains unchanged throughout the year. The evening *Sandhya Aarti* has also been rescheduled.
Effective immediately, the *Sandhya Aarti* will now occur at 7:15 PM, a shift from the previous time of 7:00 PM. The *Shayan Aarti* (night prayer) will be conducted at 10:00 PM. After this *Aarti*, the temple will close for the night if the crowd diminishes. The temple committee encourages devotees to visit for *Shyam Darshan* (viewing of the deity) at their convenience to avoid any inconvenience.
Baba Shyam is honored as the "Support of the Defeated" (*Haare Ka Sahara*) and is regarded as an incarnation of Lord Krishna. During the Mahabharata war, when Barbarik, the grandson of Bhima, was preparing to join the Kauravas, Lord Krishna appeared before him disguised as a Brahmin and requested his head as a donation. Without hesitation, Barbarik complied. Impressed by this act, Lord Krishna granted him a boon, stating that in the *Kali Yuga*, he would be worshipped as "Shyam" and would provide support to those who have faced defeat. Since then, Baba Shyam has been revered by devotees as the "Support of the Defeated."
