DIGIPin is a revolutionary solution designed to simplify the process of sharing your exact location. DIGIPin addresses this issue by allowing users to share their location through a short alphanumeric code, making it easier to facilitate deliveries, book rides, or request help in emergencies.
What is DIGIPin?
DIGIPIN stands for Digital Postal Index Number. This innovative digital addressing system has been developed by the Department of Posts in partnership with IIT Hyderabad and ISRO's NRSC. Unlike traditional postal codes that cover larger areas, DIGIPIN identifies specific locations with remarkable precision.
Benefits of DIGIPin
Enhanced Accuracy: DIGIPin utilizes latitude and longitude coordinates to provide an exact location, unlike the conventional 6-digit PIN code that only indicates a broader region.
Unique Alphanumeric Code: Each DIGIPIN consists of a unique 10-character code, combining letters and numbers in a randomized sequence, ensuring no two locations share the same code.
GIS Technology: The system is built on Geographic Information System (GIS) technology, which significantly improves the accuracy of location identification.
How to Find Your DIGIPin
To discover your DIGIPin, visit the official India Post website at https://dac.indiapost.gov.in/mydigipin/home. Once there, you will need to allow the portal to access your current location. After granting permission, your unique 10-digit DIGIPin will be displayed on the screen. You can easily share this code, and there is also an option to generate a QR code for convenience.
Using Your DIGIPin
When you share your DIGIPin with someone, they will have the option to click on it, which will present them with two choices: "Open With Google Maps" or "Open With Mappls Maps." Selecting either option will immediately show your exact location.
