Epstein's Influence in the Fashion Industry
Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender, exploited his connections within the fashion sector to gain access to young aspiring models. Despite lacking an official position in the industry, modeling scouts frequently reached out to him with information about potential talent. Some of these scouts sent unsettling messages, with one stating, "I really want you to meet her. In my opinion, she is the best girl I have sent you. She's a gift that I had been planning on giving you upon your return." Numerous modeling scouts have been implicated in the Epstein case, with emails detailing meetings and photographs of models being shared even after his 2008 conviction for soliciting a minor for prostitution, which resulted in a 13-month jail sentence in Florida.
One notable figure linked to Epstein was Jean-Luc Brunel, a French modeling agent and Epstein's close associate. Arrested in 2020, Brunel faced charges of raping minors and sexual harassment. Court documents released in 2026 revealed that he was listed as a co-conspirator by the FBI. Tragically, Brunel was found dead in his prison cell in Paris in 2022, mirroring Epstein's fate. He was accused of providing over 1,000 girls and young women to Epstein but denied any wrongdoing.
Another individual identified in U.S. Department of Justice documents is Swedish modeling scout Daniel Siad, who was involved in recruiting young women for Epstein's network. Operating mainly in Europe from the late 2000s until at least 2017, Siad sent profiles, photos, and videos of potential models to Epstein, scouting in various countries including Poland, the Czech Republic, and South Africa. He was associated with the modeling agency What's Up Management and collaborated with Brunel. Although he has not faced charges, former Swedish model Ebba Karlsson accused Siad of raping her in a Cannes villa in 1990, leading her to file a complaint with the Paris prosecutor's office for rape and trafficking. Siad is currently under investigation in France for his alleged role in recruiting and trafficking women for Epstein.
In a recent interview, Siad claimed, "He has been very professional with me. I never heard anything from anyone I introduced to him who came back to me and said they had a bad experience." When questioned about Epstein's payments despite not being a modeling agent, Siad explained, "He was because they opened an agency, MC Square." He further clarified that Epstein acted as a financier and casting director for the agency. The DOJ's Epstein files contain around three million pages, including 2,000 videos and 180,000 images, with Siad mentioned in over 1,000 documents from the late 2000s to 2017, confirming his role as a scout and recruiter for Epstein. Their communication continued until 2019, just before Epstein's arrest and subsequent suicide in jail.
