Renowned lyricist, singer, actor, and writer Swanand Kirkire is embarking on an exciting collaboration with the esteemed musician and composer Shekhar Ravjiani for their inaugural independent music project titled Maati. This collection features six soulful romantic ballads that beautifully blend Swanand's poignant lyrics and vocals with Shekhar's musical artistry, evoking deep emotions, nostalgia, and the essence of love. Each song in this collection is envisioned as a raindrop, symbolizing how individual tracks unite to create the essence of Maati. The first release from this series, Piyarva, is set to be the initial Boond (raindrop) from the six-song compilation.
The concept of Maati originated nearly twelve years ago when Swanand and Shekhar found themselves at a coffee shop after a studio session on a rainy day. What started as a casual discussion about crafting something unique and intimate gradually transformed into a broader musical vision. Over the years, the songs have remained significant to both artists, evolving and eventually finding their place in the independent music scene. Much like fine wine that matures with age, Piyarva has developed into a deeply personal and soulful piece, infused with memories from the day the idea was conceived.

Reflecting on the journey of Maati, Swanand Kirkire shared, “Twelve years ago, Shekhar and I were at a coffee shop after finishing our studio work on a rainy day. We envisioned making something that was purely ours, free from any external expectations. It was during those discussions that Piyarva came to life.
“What makes this song particularly meaningful to me is its journey over the past twelve years. Some songs are written and released quickly, while others linger, waiting for the right moment. Piyarva was one of those songs, evolving and maturing over time, much like a fine wine. Listening to it now brings back the essence of that rainy afternoon when Shekhar and I first dreamed it up.
