Temples That Attracted Devotees in 2025
As the new year approaches, numerous temples across India have seen a surge in visitors eager to offer their prayers. Notably, the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, the Jagannath Temple, and the Shri Sansthan Gokarna Jeevottam Math have been in the limelight for various reasons. Curious about what made these temples newsworthy? Here are the highlights.
Ram Mandir
Daily, a significant number of devotees flock to the Ram Mandir to seek blessings from Lord Rama. In 2025, this temple gained attention primarily due to the flag hoisting ceremony. On November 25, coinciding with the auspicious Vivah Panchami, Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the flag at the temple, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with devotion. Prior to the flag hoisting, special prayers and rituals were conducted.
The choice of November 25 for this ceremony was significant, marking the fifth day of the bright half of the Margashirsha month, which commemorates the marriage of Lord Rama and Mother Janaki, celebrated annually as Vivah Panchami.
Jagannath Rath Yatra
According to the Vedic calendar, the Jagannath Rath Yatra takes place annually on the second day of the bright half of the Ashadha month. This grand procession begins at the Jagannath Temple, where Lord Jagannath, along with his siblings Balabhadra and Subhadra, travels in separate chariots to their aunt's residence, the Gundicha Temple. Devotees from across the country gather to partake in this vibrant event.
This year, the Rath Yatra commenced on June 27 and was widely covered in the media, showcasing the unique atmosphere that surrounds this annual celebration.
Inauguration of Lord Rama's Statue in Goa
Goa, renowned for its distinct attractions, welcomed a significant addition this year with the unveiling of a bronze statue of Lord Rama at the Shri Sansthan Gokarna Partagali Jeevottam Math. Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled this statue on November 28, depicting Lord Rama with a bow and arrow, further enhancing Goa's cultural landscape.
