Significant Temples in India That Captivated Devotees in 2025

A Glimpse into India's Revered Temples

As the countdown to the new year begins, numerous temples across India have seen a surge in devotees eager to offer their prayers. Notably, the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, the Jagannath Temple, and the Shri Sansthan Gokarna Jeevottam Math have drawn significant attention for various reasons. Curious about what made these temples newsworthy? Let’s explore the unique highlights.

Ram Mandir
Daily, countless devotees flock to the Ram Mandir to seek blessings from Lord Rama. In 2025, this temple gained considerable media attention, primarily due to the flag hoisting ceremony. On November 25th, coinciding with the auspicious Vivah Panchami, Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the flag at the temple, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with devotion. Special prayers and rituals preceded this significant event.

The choice of November 25th for the flag hoisting was intentional, marking the fifth day of the bright half of the Margashirsha month, a date celebrated for the marriage of Lord Rama and Mother Janaki.

Jagannath Rath Yatra
According to the Vedic calendar, the Jagannath Rath Yatra occurs annually on the second day of the bright half of the Ashadha month. This grand procession begins at the Jagannath Temple, where Lord Jagannath, along with his siblings Balabhadra and Subhadra, travels in separate chariots to their aunt's residence, the Gundicha Temple. Devotees from across the country gather to partake in this vibrant celebration.

This year, the Rath Yatra commenced on June 27th, drawing significant attention and creating a festive atmosphere that devotees eagerly anticipate each year.

Inauguration of Lord Rama's Statue in Goa
Goa, renowned for its unique attractions, welcomed a significant addition this year with the unveiling of a bronze statue of Lord Rama at the Shri Sansthan Gokarna Partagali Jeevottam Math. Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled this statue on November 28th, depicting Lord Rama in a poised stance with a bow and arrow, further enriching Goa's cultural landscape.
