Shilpa Shinde's Bold Statements on Industry Challenges

Actress Shilpa Shinde has once again highlighted the difficulties that performers encounter within the entertainment sector. She has criticized certain factions of the television industry, claiming that some producers act like 'white-collar mafias'.

In a recent Instagram video, Shinde expressed, 'The Artist Association does not support the artists, right? These producers in the TV industry are indeed 'white-collar'. I have consistently pointed this out. Those producers who fail to provide support also resort to threats. They don't just withhold support; they threaten to halt your work, saying, 'We will stop your current show unless you align with us.'

In response to allegations that actor Shehzaada Dhami has not received approximately Rs 30 lakh in outstanding payments, she criticized the lack of solidarity from fellow artists and industry organizations.

'They did not stand by me. Even when they had the chance to support me, they chose not to. There was no need for me to voice my concerns. No one understands the struggles I faced during that time. People wrongly accuse me of seeking money. Even after a decade, that producer continues to create TV shows and films. No one dares to fight for their own justice, leading some to take drastic measures like suicide,' she stated.

Shinde's comments follow her recent participation in a podcast hosted by comedian Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa, where she discussed her conflict with the producers of the show 'Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain'.

During the podcast, Shinde revealed that she had lodged a sexual harassment complaint against producer Sanjay Kohli after leaving the show amid disputes over unpaid dues. She described feeling 'cornered' at that time and considered the complaint a last resort, noting that the issue was eventually resolved and her payments were made.

She admitted to making false claims against the producer of 'Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!' to divert attention from the accusations against her and avoid legal repercussions. According to her, these allegations were part of a targeted effort to control her and obstruct her ability to secure work in the industry after her departure from the show.

Reflecting on her experience, Shinde mentioned that friends had questioned her choices back then, but she felt trapped and saw no alternative at that moment.

The controversy dates back to 2016 when Shilpa left 'Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!' and accused the production team of harassment, a dispute that was later resolved.

Shinde emphasized her reasons for publicly addressing the controversy from nearly ten years ago. 'Today was a chance for my fellow artists to speak out on this issue, but they remained silent. My conscience is clear about what happened to me. I no longer wish to collaborate with these individuals, nor do I seek roles from them. The work they produce is shameful. There is a lack of creativity these days; they only create poor-quality shows. Is this the kind of environment you want to work in? I certainly do not. I would prefer to sell vegetables on the street than to flatter or bow to such people,' she concluded.

Shilpa made a return to 'Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!' in 2025, stating that her decision was influenced by the show's writer. She also mentioned that she now enjoys a positive relationship with the entire team.
