A New Chapter for a Classic

Renowned filmmaker Shekhar Kapur is preparing to bring a new perspective to his celebrated film Masoom with the upcoming project titled Masoom: The Next Generation. Originally released 43 years ago, the film remains a cherished piece of Indian cinema and is often hailed as a cult classic. Recent news reveals that the acclaimed composer A. R. Rahman has commenced work on this highly anticipated film.

Rahman, who won an Academy Award, will be responsible for the film's musical score and has already recorded three tracks in Los Angeles. Additionally, he will take on the role of co-producer alongside Shekhar Kapur.

The collaboration between Shekhar and Rahman dates back to 2002, when they worked together on the Bollywood-inspired musical Bombay Dreams in London. This project was initiated after Shekhar introduced Andrew Lloyd Webber to the sounds of Bollywood, leading to Rahman's involvement in the production.

Masoom: The Next Generation aims to provide a contemporary interpretation of Shekhar Kapur’s original drama, delving into themes of evolving family dynamics, identity, and intergenerational relationships.
