Severe LPG Cylinder Shortage Hits District Amid New Distribution Rules
LPG Cylinder Crisis in the District
The district is currently grappling with a significant shortage of domestic LPG cylinders due to recent changes in distribution regulations. Consumers are finding themselves waiting for hours outside gas agencies, yet many leave empty-handed and frustrated.
From the early hours of the morning, long lines of consumers gather at gas agencies. Despite their patience, the limited availability means not everyone can secure a cylinder, leading to widespread dissatisfaction among the public.
In rural areas, the home delivery system has also been severely impacted. Many villages are experiencing significant challenges due to the lack of gas, disrupting daily cooking routines. The combination of new regulations and reduced supply has resulted in chaos at gas agencies.
Local residents, including Kamlesh Singh and Munna Prasad from Fulwaria, as well as Meena Devi and Nikki Devi from Bairagi Tola, have expressed their concerns. With the wedding season in full swing, the demand for gas has surged, but agencies are struggling to meet this increased need, causing considerable hardship for the community.
Understanding the New Distribution Rules
As per the Fulwaria gas distribution agency, the previous system allowed consumers to receive gas without prior booking, and a second cylinder could be obtained after 21 days. However, the department has now revised these rules.
Under the updated regulations, consumers must now book their cylinders in advance. After purchasing one cylinder, they will have to wait 25 days before they can obtain another. Additionally, a mobile OTP system has been introduced to enhance transparency in the gas distribution process.
Cylinders will only be delivered after consumers provide the OTP sent to their mobile devices. While these new rules aim to streamline the process, many consumers are currently facing challenges as they adjust to the changes. However, improvements are anticipated in the near future.
Public Sentiment and Future Outlook
The ongoing gas shortage has sparked frustration among consumers, who are hopeful for a resolution soon. The combination of increased demand during the wedding season and the new distribution rules has created a perfect storm, leaving many without the essential cooking gas they need.
