Rituals for Bathing, Charity, and Tarpan on Sawan Amavasya
On Sawan Amavasya, rise early and complete your ablutions (bathing, etc.). If possible, bathe in a river or a sacred site; otherwise, you can add *Gangajal* (water from the Ganges) to your bathwater at home. After bathing, wear clean clothes.
Perform *Tarpan* (offering water) for your ancestors using a vessel filled with water, black sesame seeds, and white flowers. Ideally, use *Kusha* grass for the offering, as the water that drips from it reaches the ancestors. If this isn’t feasible, simply hold water in your hands while remembering your ancestors, offer it to them, and bow in respect. Say, "O Ancestral Deities! I am offering you this water; may you all be satisfied and pleased."
After completing your bath and *Tarpan*, donate items such as food grains, clothing, utensils, fruits, vegetables, blankets, or umbrellas according to your ability. This act will please your ancestors, earn their blessings, and help you overcome sins and *Pitra Dosh* (ancestral affliction).
