The Arrival of Sawan 2026
Devotees of Lord Shiva can soon rejoice as the holy month of Sawan is set to commence on Thursday, July 30, 2026. This year, it aligns with the *Pratipada Tithi* (first day) of the *Shravan Krishna Paksha* (the waning phase of the moon). The month will conclude on August 28, 2026, coinciding with *Shravan Purnima* (full moon day). This period is particularly revered for worshipping Lord Shiva, marking the second month of *Chaturmas* in the Hindu calendar. Spiritually, it is viewed as a time of great auspiciousness, filled with the devotion and fervor towards Shiva.

**Four Special Mondays in Sawan This Year**
Pandit Manotpal Jha from Purnia has highlighted that this year, there will be four *Somvari* (Monday) fasts during Sawan. The first Monday is on August 3, which coincides with the festival of *Nag Panchami* and marks the start of the *Madhushravani* puja for newly married women. The subsequent Mondays are on August 10, August 17, and the final one on August 24. These Mondays are particularly significant for devotees seeking to please Lord Bholenath.
Religious Significance of Sawan
**Sawan Grants Desired Wishes: Religious Beliefs**
According to tradition, the month of Sawan represents the divine union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It is said that Goddess Parvati underwent rigorous penance for years to win Lord Shiva as her husband, during which time He accepted her as his consort (*Ardhangini*). Devotees believe that sincere worship of Mahadev during Sawan leads to the fulfillment of wishes, ushering in joy and prosperity into their lives.
