Ravi Kishan Shares His Painful Childhood Memories

Ravi Kishan, the renowned Bhojpuri actor and Member of Parliament, recently opened up about the challenges of his early years during an appearance on Raj Shamani's podcast. He candidly discussed the physical abuse he endured from his father, revealing that he had a complex relationship with it.

“I found a strange sense of affection in my father's beatings. To me, it felt like love,” he shared, noting that his father rarely showed affection through words or hugs. For Ravi, the physical punishment was the only form of connection he recognized. “When he hit me, I believed it was his way of reaching out to me. At least he was engaging with me,” he explained.

His father, a priest who took great pride in his traditional appearance, had aspirations for Ravi to pursue farming or a stable government job, dismissing the idea of acting entirely. The turning point came when Ravi played Goddess Sita in a Ramleela, dressed in a saree, which infuriated his father. The situation escalated to the point where his mother gave him Rs 500, urging him to escape, saying, “He will kill you today.”

Fast forward thirty-three years, and after achieving significant success and accolades, Ravi's father expressed remorse. “Please forgive me. I misunderstood you,” he told his son. Ravi Kishan believes there was nothing to forgive, as he considers the harsh lessons from his childhood as valuable teachings he now imparts to his own children in a different manner.
