New Release Date for 'Prahaar'
Fans of Rajkummar Rao will have to wait a bit longer for his much-anticipated biopic, 'Prahaar', which focuses on the life of public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam.
Maddock Films shared the updated release date on their Instagram account, announcing that the film will now premiere on October 16, 2026, instead of the previously scheduled August 7. Directed by Avinash Arun, known for his work on 'Paatal Lok' and 'Three of Us', the film is produced by Dinesh Vijan under the Maddock Films label.

In June, the official teaser for 'Prahaar' was unveiled, showcasing Rajkummar Rao's remarkable transformation into the renowned prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam.
The teaser immerses viewers in a gripping investigative atmosphere, featuring a wall adorned with case files, photographs, and notes related to the theme "Terror in Mumbai: City Under Siege." It emphasizes the relentless quest for truth and justice, particularly focusing on the long-awaited conclusion regarding Ajmal Kasab's execution. Rao embodies Nikam, who is recognized for managing numerous high-profile cases.
The film notably highlights the trial of Ajmal Kasab, the only surviving terrorist from the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. The teaser frames this case as a struggle that extends beyond the courtroom, encapsulated by the phrase: "Killing Kasab was easy, proving who sent him was war." The cast also includes Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Sikander Kher in pivotal roles. A significant aspect of the film is Rao's physical transformation; he gained around 9-10 kilograms to portray Nikam convincingly, adopting a more robust appearance, complete with stubble, glasses, and a strong command of Marathi.
Rao's passion for biopics is evident as he is also set to star in the biopic of former cricketer Sourav Ganguly, titled 'Dada – The Sourav Ganguly Story', which is expected to hit theaters on May 14, 2027.
