Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Prepare for Return to Britain with Their Children
Duke and Duchess of Sussex Set to Relocate
After spending almost six years in the United States, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are planning to return to the UK with their two children in the upcoming weeks, as reported by a leading news outlet.
This relocation will see the Duke and Duchess of Sussex return to the nation they departed from after stepping back from their royal responsibilities, amid ongoing tensions with other royal family members.
King Charles III was notified of their decision on Sunday. Notably, this move was not mentioned during their earlier meeting with the King this year, according to sources close to the couple.
Upon their return, Harry and Meghan will maintain their status as non-working royals and will continue to live as private citizens. Their future residence remains uncertain, but they are not anticipated to return to royal housing.
The couple's children, Archie and Lilibet, who have primarily lived in the US, are reportedly enrolled in a school in Britain and are expected to start classes in September, according to insiders.
Harry and Meghan relocated to the US after announcing in 2020 their decision to step back from their roles as senior royals. Subsequently, Harry lost his honorary military titles and royal patronages in 2021.
Since then, their relationship with the royal family has been fraught with tension. Harry has shared insights about his royal experiences in his memoir, Spare, and both he and Meghan discussed their royal lives during a 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Security concerns have been a significant issue for Harry, who has expressed doubts about the safety of his family in Britain without police protection. His legal battles regarding security arrangements have persisted even after their move to the US.
The couple's transition to the US marked a significant shift in their public personas. They later entered into a deal with Netflix, producing a six-part documentary series, Harry & Meghan, where they discussed their experiences within the royal family and their decision to leave. Harry also published Spare in 2023.
Representatives from Buckingham Palace have chosen not to comment on the reported relocation, and a spokesperson for Harry and Meghan has not responded to inquiries, according to the news outlet.
