Nirav Koli Makes History as First Indian to Achieve CMS Rank in Kettlebell Sport

Historic Achievement at the IMKF World Championship
Madrid, Spain - On May 13, Nirav Koli proudly represented India by becoming the first Indian to earn the Candidate Master Of Sport (CMS) rank at the International Kettlebell Marathon Federation (IKMF) World Championship, which took place from May 2 to 4.
This prestigious championship attracted over 150 athletes from 22 different nations, showcasing a diverse range of talent, as reported by the IKMF.
Nirav participated in two events: the Jerk, where he lifted a 40 kg kettlebell continuously for 10 minutes, completing an impressive 142 repetitions and securing a Silver Medal in the Body Weight Category of 75-85 kg. Additionally, he excelled in the Double Pentathlon, achieving the coveted CMS rank.
His remarkable performance in the 40 kg Jerk event not only earned him the CMS title but also marked a significant milestone for Indian kettlebell sport.
For Nirav Koli, winning the CMS title has been a long-cherished dream. He credits his success to the dedicated training provided by his coach, Arnav Sarkar. Following the championship, Nirav and his team were graciously received by the Indian Ambassador to Spain, Dinesh K Patnaik, at the Indian Embassy on May 5.
Based in Mumbai, Nirav works as a personal trainer and group instructor. He aims to promote kettlebell sport in India and prepare athletes for international competitions. His goal is to enhance public awareness about health and fitness, emphasizing the versatility of kettlebells for achieving optimal results. Nirav believes that kettlebell training can benefit individuals of all ages, provided they learn under qualified coaching.
The IKMF, led by President Stephane Dauvergne, oversees kettlebell sport globally, which originated in Russia and has gained popularity worldwide. The sport involves lifting kettlebells of varying weights for a designated time, with winners determined by their bodyweight category and the number of repetitions completed.
