Nicole Kidman Honored with Women in Motion Award

The Cannes Film Festival, in collaboration with Kering, has revealed that Nicole Kidman will be the latest recipient of the Women in Motion Award, marking her as the 10th individual to receive this esteemed recognition. This award celebrates female artists who contribute significantly to enhancing the role of women in both cinema and society.

The award presentation is scheduled for May 18, coinciding with a lavish gala at the festival. Kidman’s dedication to collaborating with female directors has been highlighted as a key factor in her selection. In 2017, she committed to partnering with a female director every 18 months, a goal she has notably surpassed by working with nearly 20 female filmmakers since then.

Her efforts to elevate female representation in the film industry have positioned her as a prominent figure in line with the mission of Women in Motion over the last decade. Expressing her appreciation, Kidman described receiving the award as a ‘true honour’.

Kidman will join a distinguished group of past honorees, which includes notable figures such as Donna Langley, Jane Fonda, Patty Jenkins, Geena Davis, Susan Sarandon, Viola Davis, Michelle Yeoh, and Salma Hayek.
