Musical Tribute to Gandhi: Global Artists Unite for 'Mantras of Compassion'

A Collaborative Musical Journey

Grammy Award-winning artist Ricky Kej, alongside Masa Takumi, BRIT Award-nominated cellist Tina Guo, and Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi, has come together to create the album 'GANDHI – Mantras of Compassion.' This project serves as a heartfelt homage to Mahatma Gandhi's life and principles.

The album features contributions from over 200 artists from around the globe, aiming to convey Gandhi's teachings on non-violence, peace, tolerance, and environmental awareness through the medium of music.

As stated in a press release from the creators, this album is intended to remind listeners that Gandhi's message is as relevant and crucial today as it has ever been.

Ricky Kej expressed, "Mahatma Gandhi has inspired countless leaders, including Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandela. This album is our modest tribute to keep his spirit alive. Music has the ability to cross borders, just as Gandhi's message did."

Kailash Satyarthi, a Nobel Laureate dedicated to children's rights and peace, contributes his voice and vision to this initiative, emphasizing the album's mission to elevate global awareness through artistic expression.

Reflecting on Gandhi's enduring legacy, Satyarthi remarked, "Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated on January 30, 1948. However, the assassin failed to realize that some individuals never truly die. Gandhi is one of those figures. His teachings are both universal and timeless, guiding us across time and space."

In the trailer for the album, Ricky Kej shared insights into his collaboration with Kailash Satyarthi, which began in 2024 during a concert tour spanning four cities in India.
