A Shocking Incident at Banke Bihari Temple

The renowned Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan is infamous for its mischievous monkeys that often snatch belongings from visitors, only to return them in exchange for food. Recently, a notable incident involved a resident from Aligarh, whose bag containing jewelry valued at ₹20 lakh was stolen by one of these monkeys.

Reports indicate that Abhishek Agrawal, visiting the temple with his family, had his wife's gold ornaments stored in her purse for safekeeping amidst the crowd.

While leaving after their prayers, a monkey approached and swiftly grabbed the purse. Agrawal's wife, alarmed, alerted nearby locals about the theft, but attempts to lure the monkey back with food were unsuccessful.

In a state of urgency, Agrawal contacted the police via the emergency number 112. A team from the local police station quickly arrived and reviewed CCTV footage to track the monkey's movements.

After several hours of searching, the bag was eventually located hidden in some bushes. Circle officer Sandeep Kumar confirmed, "A devotee from Aligarh had his wife's purse snatched by a monkey. Our team utilized electronic surveillance to successfully recover the purse, which contained all the jewelry intact."

Agrawal expressed his gratitude, stating, "I am thankful to God and the prompt action of the Vrindavan police for preventing a significant loss."
