Mona Singh's Thriving Career and Personal Life

Mona Singh is currently experiencing a bustling period in her career, with projects like The Ba**ds Of Bollywood, Munjya, Border 2, and the recent Netflix series Kohrra 2 resonating well with audiences. When she isn't captivating viewers with her unique role choices and acclaimed performances, Mona enjoys cooking and spending quality time at home with her two beloved dogs.

In a candid conversation with women from the FICCI FLO Amritsar chapter during her recent visit to the city, she expressed, "I am a recluse; I cherish my time at home. Traveling, cooking for my loved ones, and simply being myself brings me joy."

Mona has a deep affection for Amritsar, calling it her favorite city globally. She appreciates not only the delicious food but also the warmth and kindness of its people, which she feels is unmatched elsewhere.

Being a true Punjabi at heart, she stated, "I love food and enjoy feeding others." This passion led her to open her first restaurant, Kona Kona, a charming multi-cuisine spot in Mumbai, inspired by her fond memories of home-cooked meals. "I wanted to create a space where people could bond over comfort food, reminiscent of my upbringing in a Punjabi household where food was central to family interactions. My father currently helps me manage the restaurant," she shared, noting that daal-chawal tops her list of favorite dishes.

Regarding her acting career, Mona has always been focused. "There was never a plan B for me. I was determined to pursue acting from a young age. I believe it was destiny that I got my break with a character like Jassi, and I continue to receive scripts that challenge me beyond expectations," she explained.

Mona made her television debut with the iconic show Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin, and her recent role in Netflix's Kohrra 2 has once again showcased her talent and versatility. She emphasizes the importance of character depth over appearance, stating, "Society has long dictated how women should look and behave. I have never been concerned with ageism; my focus is on producing quality work and having the freedom to express myself creatively."

She has often mentioned that playing 'Jassi' was a significant responsibility and her greatest achievement, yet she feels her recent role as a troubled cop, Dhanwant Kaur, resonates more closely with real-life challenges.

Mona elaborated on Dhanwant's character in Kohrra 2, highlighting the struggles women in authority face, particularly in high-pressure roles. "Dhanwant's journey reflects the scrutiny women often endure in professional settings. Being a police officer in Punjab can be particularly challenging, as they often juggle multiple responsibilities, leaving little room for personal or professional healing. This character resonated with me due to the constant challenges faced by women in such positions," she noted.

As she enjoys the success of Kohrra 2, Mona is poised to surprise audiences again with her role as a sand mafia leader in the upcoming Anil Kapoor film, Subedar.
