Kareena Kapoor's Bold Statement on Emotional Vulnerability
During the trailer unveiling of her new film Daayra in Mumbai, Kareena Kapoor challenged the stereotype that women are inherently more emotional than men. She asserted that emotional sensitivity should not be confined to one gender, advocating that boys should feel equally free to express their emotions, including crying and discussing their feelings.
Kareena emphasized her role as a mother to two sons, expressing her concerns about their emotional well-being. She stated, "As a mother, my greatest wish is to protect them while also teaching them responsibility. My hope is for them to embody kindness. Men and boys should strive to be kinder," she remarked.
She further commented on the societal belief that girls are always more sensitive, stating, "This notion that girls are the only sensitive ones is misleading. Many boys today are unafraid to show their emotions, whether it's crying in front of a girl or their mother. I encourage my son to cry if he feels the need to, as it's essential for him to experience and understand his emotions."
Kareena highlighted the importance of allowing children to express their feelings for their personal development, reiterating the necessity for increased kindness among boys and men.
The film Daayra is set to premiere on September 18, featuring Kareena alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran as police officers confronting the intricate issues surrounding juvenile crime.
According to the filmmakers, the narrative is "inspired by true events." Daayra explores the aftermath of a crime that captures national attention, igniting widespread outrage and triggering two separate investigations.
As the quest for truth intensifies, the two senior officers, portrayed by Kareena and Prithviraj, navigate the same system but with differing approaches to justice, challenging conventional notions of right and wrong.
