Kangana Ranaut Responds to Critics of Her Faith

Kangana Ranaut, the actress and BJP Member of Parliament, has addressed the backlash regarding her religious evolution, questioning why Hindu women are often scrutinized for openly embracing their faith.

In a recent Instagram video posted on Monday, Ranaut shared her journey from being a moderate Hindu to what she describes as a 'defined and awakened Hindu.' She expressed that this change has led to her being labeled, stating, 'I was called a Sanghi and accused of adhering to BJP's ideology,' and she challenged the notion that personal spiritual growth should be subject to public criticism.

Ranaut emphasized that the Constitution allows individuals the freedom to adopt any belief system, whether secular or religious, and argued that Hindu women should enjoy the same liberties without facing judgment. 'Why is this path not available to me? Why can’t I pursue it?' she questioned, pointing out that critics often reference her past lifestyle choices to discredit her current beliefs. 'Ten years ago, you used to party, you did this, you did everything,' she remarked, questioning the fairness of judging someone based on their past.

Additionally, she claimed that some Hindu women in the film industry have altered their ideological stances after engaging with what she termed 'Islamists,' while those who embrace a stronger Hindu identity are met with harsh criticism, labeling this as an instance of 'double-minded thinking.'

The video has sparked renewed discussions on social media, with opinions sharply divided. Ranaut, who has become increasingly outspoken on matters of religion and politics since her entry into Parliament, recently referred to Gen Z protesters at Jantar Mantar as 'gutter chap,' a comment that has already attracted considerable backlash.
