Kangana Responds to Baba Ramdev's Criticism
Bollywood actress and BJP Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut has fired back at yoga guru Baba Ramdev after he criticized her remarks about the younger generation. The exchange took place on Instagram, where Kangana sharply advised Ramdev not to 'daydream' about her past or personal life.
This dispute arose from Kangana's earlier comments regarding young demonstrators at the protest in Delhi's Jantar Mantar, where she referred to some as a 'generation gutter.'
She later clarified that her remarks were not aimed at all protesters but were directed at specific individuals, particularly some women involved in the protest against the NEET-UG paper leak.
Kangana stated, 'Those who identify as cockroaches, we say they come from gutters. If they label themselves this way, why should they be offended? I do not see myself as a cockroach, and if someone claims I live in a gutter, I would deny it. But if they call themselves cockroaches, then that is where they belong.'
She further explained, 'If certain young people are involved in drug use or if we talk about the current issues of addiction, it does not imply that I am generalizing about all youth. I specifically mentioned some individuals. How else can we address this?'
During a media event, Baba Ramdev weighed in on the situation, criticizing Kangana's statements. In response, Kangana shared a screenshot of Ramdev's comments questioning her past and youth. She retorted, 'Baba ji, stop daydreaming about my youth or personal life. You can only speculate based on rumors. At least I have never faced legal action from the Supreme Court for false claims, unlike some.'
Kangana's remarks also referenced a 2024 case involving Baba Ramdev and Patanjali, where he and Acharya Balkrishna issued an apology to the Supreme Court for misleading advertisements. They expressed regret for violating court orders and assured that they would refrain from making similar claims in the future.
