In a remarkable display of talent, India achieved a groundbreaking feat at the 2nd Asian Yogasana Sport Championship, securing an impressive total of 83 gold medals. This prestigious event took place at the KD Jadhav Arena within the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi.


The championship attracted participants from over 21 nations, including Japan, Mongolia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Uzbekistan. While India led the medal tally with a staggering 83 golds, Japan followed with a total of 3 golds, 3 silvers, and 4 bronzes, while Mongolia, Oman, and Nepal completed the top five rankings.


Countries like Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Kazakhstan, and Bhutan also demonstrated strong performances, showcasing the expanding popularity of yogasana as a competitive sport across Asia, as reported by a release from Sai Media.


The event concluded with a grand closing ceremony featuring notable attendees such as Harsh Malhotra, Minister of State for Corporate Affairs, and Ajay Chaudhary, Additional Commissioner of Police, Delhi, along with senior officials from the Asian and World Yogasana federations.


Umang Dawn, Secretary General of Asian Yogasana, welcomed attendees at the ceremony, which included a presentation by Sanjay Malpani, President of Asian Yogasana, who highlighted the championship's significance. Jaideep Arya, Secretary General of World Yogasana, discussed the increasing global recognition of yogasana. The ceremony was further enlivened by a vibrant cultural showcase.


Sanjay Malpani remarked, "Yogasana not only enhances physical strength but also fosters mental resilience and focus, which are vital for overall well-being and societal advancement. Events like these help disseminate this crucial message widely."


Udit Sheth, President of Yogasana Bharat, expressed pride in the Indian National Team's outstanding performance, stating, "The medal tally is spectacular. As the sport continues to grow, we anticipate more competition, and it's essential to maintain our excellence. Great job, team India!"
