From Comfort to Challenge: Heital Puniwala's Acting Journey

Heital Puniwala, an actor recognized for his performances in films such as Oh My God, PK, and Bang Bang, recounts his transition from a secure theatre career in Surat to pursuing acting in Mumbai. His path has been marked by relentless auditions, daily challenges, and a determination to actively seek out opportunities rather than waiting for them to arrive.

Reflecting on his decision to leave the comfort of theatre in Surat, Heital shares, "I enjoyed a stable life in my hometown, but I felt a strong urge to seek greater acting prospects. Stepping out of my comfort zone was essential for my growth."

After relocating to Mumbai, Heital immersed himself in the audition scene, attending numerous auditions regardless of whether the roles suited him. He made it a point to connect with casting directors and gather their contact information.

During his early struggles, Heital established a routine of sending emails to the contacts he had gathered, often visiting 12 to 13 audition venues daily.

Although immediate success was elusive, persistence paid off. He began to get shortlisted for advertisements, eventually appearing in over 450 ads.

Heital's mindset was clear: he aimed for his auditions to reach every producer and director possible. He traveled extensively across the city, believing that taking risks was essential.

Heital emphasizes that he actively sought out opportunities rather than waiting for them to come to him. He states, "If opportunities aren’t presenting themselves, I would find a way to create them. I never stayed idle at home."

During this challenging period, he made significant lifestyle sacrifices, choosing to forgo luxury items to focus on his goals. He believes that stepping out of one’s comfort zone is crucial for success.

His breakthrough came with a high-profile advertisement that set the stage for his future. With unwavering dedication to every audition, he earned the title of 'Ad King' due to his prolific work in commercials. This success led to film roles, including a notable part in Rajkumar Hirani's PK, followed by projects like Oh My God and Bang Bang.
