Understanding Piles

Piles can be extremely painful and often arise from poor dietary habits and constipation. As the condition progresses, it can lead to complications such as fissures and fistulas. Piles develop due to swelling of the veins around the rectum. Prolonged sitting and irregular eating patterns are significant contributors to this issue. There are two main types of piles: bleeding piles, characterized by bright red lumps that bleed, and non-bleeding piles, which appear dark and are often accompanied by itching, pain, and swelling.

Home Remedies for Piles Relief

Here, we present some effective home remedies that can provide relief from piles and associated pain. The use of marigold flowers and black pepper can be particularly beneficial.

Successful Use of Marigold and Black Pepper for Piles

  1. Grind fresh marigold leaves with black pepper and consume this mixture once daily for four days. Use 10 grams of leaves and 7 black peppercorns for this remedy.
  2. Mix 10 grams of yellow marigold flowers with 7 black peppercorns, grind them, and strain the mixture in half a glass of water. This drink can help alleviate bleeding piles.
  3. For bleeding piles, grind the flowers and sauté the paste in ghee. Add sugar and fennel seeds, and consume it once a day, either two hours before or after meals. Avoid eating or drinking anything for an hour after consumption.

Additional Tips for Managing Piles

  • To combat piles, it is crucial to first address constipation. Before bedtime, consume a glass of warm milk with a teaspoon of small haritaki powder or psyllium husk. After using the restroom in the morning, practice Kapalbhati for at least 15 minutes. If the problem is severe, extend this to half an hour. Incorporate plenty of fiber into your diet, using coarsely ground grains and bran.
  • Slice a ripe banana in half and place a grain of camphor between the pieces. Leave it outside overnight and consume it after using the restroom the next morning. Repeat this for a week to see significant improvement in even severe cases of piles.
  • Applying neem oil to the piles and consuming 4-5 drops daily can be very beneficial.
  • Taking a teaspoon of washed black sesame seeds with fresh butter can also help stop bleeding from piles.
  • Burn coconut husk and separate the ash from the unburned fibers. Store the clean ash in a bottle. Consume 3 grams of this ash with a glass of buttermilk or a bowl of yogurt on an empty stomach, and avoid eating anything for about two hours afterward. Repeat this three times a day, ensuring the yogurt or buttermilk is fresh. This remedy can effectively treat even chronic piles.
