Benjamin Netanyahu Announces Recovery from Early-Stage Prostate Cancer
Netanyahu's Health Update
On Friday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu disclosed that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. He shared that after undergoing successful treatment for early-stage prostate cancer, he has received a clean bill of health. This marks the first occasion he has publicly addressed his health condition.
According to an annual health report dated April 20, 2026, the 76-year-old Netanyahu initially had surgery on December 29, 2024, to address benign prostatic hyperplasia. The operation, performed at Hadassah Medical Center, was reported to be successful without complications. A follow-up MRI later detected a tiny suspicious lesion, less than one millimeter in size, in his prostate. Subsequent tests confirmed the diagnosis of early-stage prostate cancer.
Netanyahu explained that the release of the health report was postponed for two months to prevent Iran from using his medical situation for propaganda during the ongoing conflict. He stated, "I chose to delay the report’s publication so it would not come out at the peak of the war and be used by Iran for propaganda." He concluded by affirming, "Today I can say I am in good health and excellent physical condition after treating a very early-stage prostate cancer that was completely removed."
