Gippy Grewal's Film Akaal Premieres in Mohali with Star-Studded Attendance
A Grand Premiere for Akaal: The Unconquered
As the crowd buzzed with excitement, nihangs sporting sunglasses made a striking entrance at the Mohali premiere of Gippy Grewal's film, Akaal: The Unconquered, held at CP67 Mall on Tuesday evening.
The film, which Gippy Grewal both wrote and directed, features him in the leading role. Dressed in a brown kurta and kesari turban, he made a swift arrival alongside the cast, which included Nimrat Khaira, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Happy Raikoti, and Prince Kanwaljit Singh. The film's director of photography, Baljit Singh Deo, was also by Gippy's side.
Post-screening, Gippy expressed pride not only as a filmmaker but also as a father, particularly impressed by his sons' performances in the film. He remarked, “When I started in this industry, I had no knowledge, but I strive to ensure my sons are well-prepared before stepping in front of the camera.” He highlighted how his son Ekom trained in various martial arts, including parkour and gatka, for his debut role, emphasizing the need for him to embody a warrior spirit.
Akaal received support from Dharma Productions and was released in both Hindi and Punjabi to cater to a wider audience across India. Gurpreet Ghuggi, who led the premiere event, commended Gippy, stating, “A good learner makes a great teacher, and he exemplifies that.”
This fictional period drama took approximately five years to complete. Gippy expressed, “We have put in our efforts, and now we aim to elevate the film to new heights.”
Ghuggi added, “Our children are exposed to a lot through social media, which we cannot control, but we are working to instill values in them through our craft.”
Gippy also shared insights about his relationship with Baljit Singh Deo. Other notable attendees at the premiere included Sardar Sohi and Abheyy Attri. Akaal, which celebrates Sikh values, hit theaters on April 10.
